What the status line means

Green — updated a moment ago
The bus is reporting normally. What you see is where it was a few seconds ago.
Amber — signal lost
The bus was reporting and has stopped. Almost always this is a phone that has lost mobile signal — a valley, a tunnel, a thick building — and it will pick up again. The marker stays where it was last seen and does not creep forward on a guess. The bus is very probably still moving; the map just cannot see it.
Grey — not running
The route is not in service right now, so there is nothing to show. This is not a fault. See the next section.

If it says the server cannot be reached, that is your connection or ours — not the bus. Nothing shown on screen is a position in that state.

Why the bus disappears outside school runs

Each route has service hours. Outside them the bus's position is not shown to families at all — it is not hidden in the app, the server does not send it. This is deliberate and it is a protection for the driver: this service exists to track a vehicle doing a job, not to follow a person through their day. So an empty map at seven in the evening is the system working.

Putting it on your home screen

It works in any browser, but adding it to your home screen makes it open like an app and is what lets notifications work reliably.

Getting told before the bus arrives

On the tracker, choose 5 or 10 minutes under “Tell me when the bus is near”. Your phone will ask permission once. The notification is worked out from where the bus actually is and how the route usually runs, so it gets better over the first few weeks of term.

You will only get these while the route is running, and only for your own stop. If the option is not there, either notifications are not turned on for this installation or your browser does not support them.

To stop them, set the same option back to “Off”, or turn notifications off for this site in your browser settings.

Signing in and account trouble

I signed up but no bus appears
The tracker itself says which of three things it is. Most often the school has you down under a different email address from the one you signed up with — sign in with that one instead, or ask the office to add the address you actually used. If it asks you to confirm your email, the link is already in your inbox. And if it says your stop is not on a route yet, your school knows and there is nothing for you to do but wait.
I forgot my password
Use the reset link on the sign-in page. You will get an email either way — including one telling you if there is no account at that address, which usually means you registered with a different one.
I never got the confirmation email
Check your spam folder first. You can ask for another from the banner at the top of the app, or from your account page.
I moved house, or my child changed route
Your school holds the address book, so this one has to go through them. They will move your access to the right route.
I want my data, or I want my account gone
Both are on your account page, and neither needs anyone's permission.
